Pengaruh Media Kartu Pintar Bergambar Terhadap Kemampuan Mengenal Huruf Pada Anak Usia 4-5 Tahun
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of using picture smart card media on the letter recognition abilities of children
aged 4–5 years at PPT Mentari Pakal Surabaya. The research design used was a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design
involving 20 children as the research subjects. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation,
then analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The pretest results showed that most
children’s letter recognition skills were in the not yet developed and beginning to develop categories. After
participating in learning activities using picture smart card media for four sessions, the children’s abilities increased
significantly, with most reaching the expected and very well-developed categories. The Wilcoxon test indicated a
significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (T count < T table), so the alternative hypothesis was
accepted. In conclusion, picture smart card media is effective in improving letter recognition skills in children aged 4
5 years. It is recommended as a creative and engaging early literacy learning strategy to motivate children and
strengthen letter recognition in early childhood education.
