Upaya Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berbahasa Anak Usia 4-5tahun melalui buku cerita bergambar PPT Kana Surabaya
Abstract
This study aims to explore the development of language skills in children aged 4 to 5 years through the use of picture storybooks at PPT Kana. The research involved a sample of 12 children from Group B of the kindergarten. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) design was employed, consisting of two cycles, each including four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection methods included observation and documentation.Based on percentage analysis, the pre-intervention (pre-test) results showed an average language skill score of 50%. In the first cycle, there was some improvement, with the average score increasing to 60%, but this did not meet the predetermined success criterion of ≥75%. During the second cycle, language skills showed significant improvement, with 82,39% of the children reaching the expected level of mastery (≥75%), and the post-test average rising to 75%.The use of picture storybooks, supported by visual teaching aids, created an engaging and enjoyable learning environment that increased children's enthusiasm and participation in classroom activities. As a result, the findings from the second cycle showed a notable improvement compared to the first. It can therefore be concluded that picture storybooks effectively enhance the language development of 4–5-year-old children in Group B at PPT Kana Surabaya.
