Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the effect of the farm-themed monopoly game on financial literacy skills of children aged 5–6 years in preschools located in Gayungan District, Surabaya. The research was motivated by the lack of financial literacy introduction at early childhood levels and the limited learning media that are concrete, interactive, and developmentally appropriate for young learners. A quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design was used, involving two groups consisting of 22 children each. The research instrument was a student worksheet that had passed validity and reliability testing. Data were analyzed through normality testing, homogeneity assessment, and t-test. The results showed a significant increase in the financial literacy skills of the experimental group compared to the control group. This indicates that the farm monopoly game is effective as a meaningful instructional medium that enhances children’s understanding of money value, basic transactions, and financial management.
