Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of using the educational game media "Letter Adventure" on the ability to recognize lowercase letters, specifically letters with similar visual characteristics (b, d, m, and n), among children aged 4–5 years. This study employed a quantitative approach using a One-Group Pretest–Posttest design. The research subjects consisted of all 19 children in Group A2 at TK At-Taqwa 1 Surabaya. Data were collected through observation sheets and analyzed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and the Paired Samples T-Test. The findings revealed a significant improvement in children's early literacy skills, with the mean score increasing substantially from 8.84 (categorized as Not Yet Developed and Beginning to Develop) in the pretest to 19.95 (categorized as Developing as Expected and Very Well Developed) in the posttest. The hypothesis testing results showed an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Letter Adventure educational game is effective in supporting the learning of lowercase letter recognition among early childhood learners.
