Abstract
This study aims to improve early childhood number recognition skills through activities of forming numbers using various concrete materials such as pom-poms, straws, cords, buttons, and velcro. The research employed a classroom action research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four meetings, including planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects were 20 children in Group A at TK Al-Mursyidien Surabaya. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and performance assessment. The results indicated a significant improvement in children's number recognition ability, increasing from 35% in the pre-cycle to 75% in Cycle I, and reaching 90% in Cycle II. The use of concrete materials in number-forming activities effectively enhanced children's engagement, creativity, concentration, and understanding of number concepts in a meaningful and enjoyable learning environment.
