Penggunaan Media Flash Card untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Membaca Permulaan Anak Usia 5–6 Tahun
Abstract
Early reading skills are one of the essential basic skills developed in early childhood aspreparation for entering elementary school. However, in reality, some children still experience difficulty recognizing letters and reading simple syllables. This suggests the need for engaging learning media tailored to the characteristics of early childhood to enhance the learning process. This study aims to determine the improvement in early reading skills in children aged 5–6 years through the use of flashcards. This study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using a One Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The subjects were 23 children in Group B. Data collection included a test of early reading skills, observation of children's activities during learning, and documentation of the research activities. The results showed that the use of flashcards improved children's early reading skills. Children became more easily able to recognize letters and read simple syllables, and demonstrated a greater interest in learning. Furthermore, children appeared more active and enthusiastic during the learning process. Therefore, flashcards can be used as an effective alternative learning medium to improve early reading skills in early childhood.
