Abstract

This study aims to improve the fine motor skills of children aged 4–5 years through threading activities at TK Darussalam Surabaya. Fine motor skills are abilities that involve the coordination of small muscles, especially finger

movements and hand-eye coordination, which are very important in supporting children's readiness for writing, drawing, cutting, and other daily activities. The problem found is that many children still have difficulties in holding small objects, arranging patterns, and lacking hand-eye coordination. Threading activities were chosen as a solution because they are interesting, enjoyable, and suitable learning-through-play activities for early childhood characteristics. Threading was carried out using colorful straws, strings, and other simple materials that are safe for children. Through this activity, children were trained to insert objects into strings in an orderly manner so that it could improve accuracy, concentration, patience, and finger skills. The results of the study showed that threading activities had a positive effect on the development of children's fine motor skills. Children became more skillful, more focused, and able to complete tasks more independently. Therefore, threading activities are effectively used as a learning strategy to improve fine motor skills in early childhood.
