Abstract

Early childhood, specifically the first four years of growth and development, is often referred to as the "Golden Age" because physical conditions and all child capabilities are developing rapidly. This research was motivated by the low ability of Group A children at Santa Maria Kindergarten Surabaya in collage activities, as evidenced by many children's inability to complete collages neatly. This study aims to determine teacher activities, child activities, and to improve abilities through collage activities. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research subjects were 12 children from Group A at Santa Maria Kindergarten Surabaya. Data collection techniques included observation, documentation, and field notes. Data analysis was performed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods, with a success indicator of at least 75% of children reaching the "Developing as Expected" (BSH) or "Developing Very Well" (BSB) categories. The results showed that collage activities can enhance teacher and child activities in the learning process. Teacher activities became more focused and varied, while child activities became more active, enthusiastic, and directly involved in learning. Furthermore, through collage activities, children experienced a significant improvement from the pre-action stage to Cycle I and Cycle II, eventually reaching a classical mastery level of over 75%. Thus, it can be concluded that collage activities are effective in improving the fine motor skills of Group A children at Santa Maria Kindergarten Surabaya.
