Abstract

This study aims to improve the numeracy skills of children aged 5–6 years through block play activities at TK Yaa Bunayya Surabaya. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles. The research subjects consisted of 12 children in Group B. Data were collected through observation and documentation, while data analysis employed a descriptive comparative approach. The results showed an improvement in children’s numeracy skills through the use of unit block media. In Cycle I, 50.0% of the children achieved the expected level of development, which increased to 91.7% in Cycle II. This improvement was reflected in the children’s ability to mention number sequences, count using blocks, recognize number symbols, and classify blocks based on shape and size. Therefore, block play activities are effective in improving early childhood numeracy skills, as they provide concrete, enjoyable, and meaningful learning experiences.
