Abstract
This study aims to improve the fine motor skills of children aged 5–6 years through coloring activities at PGRI 6 Karang Anyar Kindergarten, Ketapang District, Sampang Regency. Fine motor skills involve the coordination of small muscles, especially in the hands and fingers, which are crucial for early childhood development, particularly in learning activities such as writing, drawing, and cutting. The method used in this study was a learning activity through coloring activities carried out in a directed and repetitive manner under teacher guidance. Data were obtained through observations of children's ability to hold coloring tools, control hand movements, and neatness in coloring pictures. The results showed that coloring activities can improve hand-eye coordination, accuracy, and children's skills in controlling finger movements. Children also appeared more enthusiastic and were able to complete coloring tasks better than before. Based on these results, it can be concluded that coloring activities are effective in improving the fine motor skills of children aged 5–6 years. Therefore, coloring activities are recommended to be routinely implemented in early childhood learning as a strategy to support children's fine motor development.
