Abstract

This study aimed to improve young children's fine motor skills through the use of the Fun Mystery Box learning media in Group A of TK Bukit Kasih Surabaya. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research was conducted in two cycles involving 23 children, consisting of 13 boys and 10 girls. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and field notes using a fine motor skills observation sheet as the research instrument. The data were analyzed descriptively using percentage analysis. The results indicated a continuous improvement in children's fine motor skills across the research cycles. In the pre-cycle, only 27% of children achieved the Developing as Expected (BSH) and Very Well Developed (BSB) categories. This percentage increased to 50% in Cycle I and reached 100% in Cycle II, consisting of 85% in the BSB category and 15% in the BSH category. These findings demonstrate that the Fun Mystery Box media effectively enhances children's fine motor skills by promoting eye-hand coordination as well as grasping, transferring, and sorting activities.
