SEMIOTIKA DESKRIPTIF ONOMATOPE GIONGO DAN GITAIGO YANG BERKAITAN DENGAN JENIS MAKANAN PADA SERIAL TOKUSATSU KAMEN RIDER GAVV (仮面ライダーガヴ) KARYA JUNKO KOUMURA

Abstract

Japanese is known as one of the languages with the richest and most complex onomatopoeia systems. In Japanese, onomatopoeia is not merely used to mimic real sounds; the language has extensively developed a system of sound symbolism. Consequently, it does not only imitate sounds but also depicts conditions, emotions/feelings, and movements. While numerous studies have analyzed onomatopoeia in manga and anime, this theme remains relatively rare in the tokusatsu genre. Tokusatsu itself is a genre that literally means "special effects," derived from the abbreviation of tokushu satsuei gijutsu (特殊撮影技術), which translates to "special photography techniques." This study focuses on the analysis of food-related onomatopoeic words in the series Kamen Rider Gavv. Generally, onomatopoeia in tokusatsu series mostly appears as sound effects during battle scenes. However, in Kamen Rider Gavv, onomatopoeic words also appear as visual effects in specific scenes, providing a tangible visual effect of the sound when experiencing certain sensations or textures of food. Given that Kamen Rider Gavv centers around the main theme of snacks, most of the onomatopoeic words that emerge are closely related to food.
