This research is motivated by the complexity of using rengo (collocations) in the Japanese language,
particularly regarding technical terms or Language for Specific Purposes (LSP) in golf, which is dominated
by Gairaigo (loanwords). This study aims to map the structure of N + V collocations and explain their
functional and contextual meanings in depicting the dynamics of golf.
This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subject of the research is the
anime Birdie Wing: Golf Girls' Story (Season 1), while the object is the lingual unit of golf-related collocations.
Data were collected using the Note-taking method through observation, transcription, identification, and
codification. Data analysis was conducted by applying the Mapping Collocations of Japanese Verbs
method (Sutiyarti & Takako, 2025) and referring to Machida and Momiyama’s (1997) collocation theory to
analyze the lexical interconnectedness between elements.
The results show 207 collocation data points classified into three narrative function categories: (1)
Professional Technical Aspects (37%), (2) Strategic and Mental Aspects (21%), and (3) Aggression and the
Underground World Aspects (42%). Significant findings indicate that technical collocations tend to use
denotative meanings to maintain sports reality accuracy, as recognized by WebNewtype standards. However,
in the context of underground golf, a shift in semantic transparency (Song et al., 2023) was found, where
golf terms symbiosis with weaponry metaphors. The conclusion asserts that collocations in this anime
serve as sociolinguistic instruments to differentiate character identities through arbitrary choices of
accompanying verbs, while simultaneously animating a contrasting match atmosphere between
professionalism and criminality.

本研究は、日本語における連語（コロケーション）の使用の複雑さ、特に外来語が主流であるゴルフ
の専門用語（LSP：特定の目的のための言語）に着目したものである。本研究の目的は、N + V 型の連
語構造を明示し、ゴルフ競技のダイナミクスを描写する上での機能的・文脈的な意味を明らかにする
ことである。
本研究では、記述的分析による質的研究手法を用いた。研究対象はアニメ『BIRDIE WING -Golf Girls'
Story-』（第 1 期）であり、分析対象はゴルフ用語に関する連語である。データ収集は、観察、書き起
こし、同定、コード化の手順による「聴取・筆記法」を用いて行われた。データ分析には、町田・桃
山（1997）の連語論に基づき、語彙素間の結合性を考察するとともに、Sutiyarti & Takako（2025）
による「日本語動詞の連語マッピング」の手法を適用した。
分析の結果、207個の連語データが抽出され、以下の3つのナラティブ機能に分類された。（1）専門
的な技術的側面（37％）、（2）戦略的・精神的側面（21％）、（3）攻撃性と裏社会の側面（42％）。主
な知見として、技術的な連語は「WebNewtype」の基準に認められるような競技の正確性を維持する
ために外延的意味（デノテーション）を用いる傾向があることが判明した。一方で、賭けゴルフ（裏
ゴルフ）の文脈では、ゴルフ用語が武器の比喩と共生する「意味的な透明性」（Song他、2023）の変
容が見られた。結論として、本作における連語の使用は、恣意的な動詞の選択を通じてキャラクター
のアイデンティティを区別する社会言語学的な装置として機能しており、同時にプロフェッショナリ
ズムと犯罪性が対比される試合の雰囲気を鮮明に描写している。
