Abstrak

This study investigates the forms, functions, and contexts of metaphorical expressions in Ajin Season 1 and 2 by
Sakurai Gamon. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and Lakoff and Johnson's (1980) conceptual metaphor
theory, the study analyzes metaphorical utterances collected through observation and note-taking. The findings
reveal five types of metaphors: structural, orientational, ontological, anthropomorphic, and zoomorphic, with
ontological metaphors occurring most frequently. Metaphors function to strengthen narrative development,
characterize the characters, create emotional impact, and convey social criticism and ideological perspectives.
Their emergence is influenced by the characters' emotions, conflicts, ideologies, and the need to reinforce meaning
within the story.
Keywords: metaphor, conceptual metaphor, Ajin, Lakoff and Johnson, cognitive linguistics.
