POLA URUTAN SATUAN LINGUAL DENN DALAM KUMPULAN DONGENG OLEH BRÜDER GRIMM

Abstract

Each lingual unit can occupy a certain position in a sentence. Different word classes will also affect the determination of its position in each construction. “Denn” in this case can be said to be biased because “denn” has a function as a conjunction and can also function as an Abtönungsparticle (Modalparticle). This custom can be found in the texts in the collection of fairy tales by Brüder Grimm. Therefore, this study
aims to describe the function and pattern of sequences along with the meaning of the lingual unit “denn” in a collection of fairy tales by Brüder Grimm. As research data, the sentences in Brother Lustig, die drei Vögelchen, and Ferdinand getreu und Ferdinand ungetreu by Brüder Grimm were obtained through the note-taking technique. Through the Verschiebeprobe (Umstellprobe) technique (sequence pattern test) the
results of this study indicate that the lingual unit “denn” as a conjunction in the texts of Brüder Grimm's collection of fairy tales can occupy the Vorfeld (Nullposition) position (initial position/position 0) and Mittelfeld (position 0) middle). As a conjunction, the lingual unit has a causal meaning. In contrast to the lingual unit “denn” as a conjunction, the lingual unit “denn” as an Abtönungsparticle (Modalparticle) only has limitations related to its position, namely that the lingual unit only occupies the Mittelfeld position (middle position). In addition, the meaning it has is no longer related to the meaning of cause and effect (causal) but is related to affirmation.
