Abstract

The research entitled World View in Short Stories by Wolfgang Borchert, aims to describe the relationship between the historical background and the author's life with the process of creating literary works. What is meant by the background of the author's life is the political, social, and cultural conditions experienced by the author during his life. This qualitative descriptive type of research applies the genetic-structuralism theory of Lucien Goldmann (2017). From the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the world view is studied through social facts seen from the social conditions of the people who condition the creation of the literary work, namely the conditions of severe damage including material damage, poverty, powerlessness and physical and psychological disorders as outlined through dictions such as „ganz altes Gesicht, „hatte keine Hände, „Die Häuser standen abgebrochen gegen den Himmel”. The author's world view as outlined in this literary work is in the form of the author's hope to unite the social groups that exist in society, namely the group that has lost life hope and the group that gives life hope.
