Abstract

This research aims to describe the repetition of anaphora based on Braak's theory in the lyrics of songs from the “Mensch”album by Herbert Grönemeyer. This study uses a structuralist stylistic analysis that emphasizes the importance of structure in language and how language style is created through the choice and combination of language elements that are systematically organized. Repetition in the song lyrics adds emphasis in the appropriate context, strengthening the impression and facilitating the understanding of the messageconveyed. The approach used in this study is qualitative, with data sourced from 11 song lyrics from the “Mensch” album: “Mensch,” “Neuland,” “Der Weg,” “Viertel vor,” “Lache, wenn es nicht zum Weinen Reicht,” “Unbewohnt,” “Dort und Hier,” “Blick Zurück,” “Kein Pokal,” “Zum Meer,” and “Demo (Letzter Tag)”. The data collected consists of words containing anaphora repetition. Data collection was carried out by reading the song lyrics and underlining sections containing anaphora repetition. The collected data were then analyzed by describing the findings and drawing conclusions. The results show that the highest occurrence of anaphora repetition was found in the song “Mensch,” with 10 occurrences out of 30 data points, followed by “Demo (Letzter Tag),” “Lache, wenn es nicht zum weinen Reicht,” “Blick Zurück,” “Zum Meer,” “Neuland,” “Kein Pokal,” “Der Weg,” and “Unbewohnt”. Meanwhile, anaphora repetition was not found in the songs “Viertel vor” and “Dort und Hier”.
