This study examines the types of ellipsis and the specific sentence elements that are omitted in fairy tales. Ellipsis refers to the omission of certain components within a sentence, typically words that would otherwise be repeated and are therefore deemed unnecessary, while the overall meaning of the sentence remains intact. The data for this study are drawn from five selected fairy tales by the Brüder Grimm, namely: Die Drei Spinnerinnen, Katze und Maus in Gesellschaft, Der Wolf und die Sieben Jungen Geißlein, Der Wunderliche Spielmann, and Das Lumpengesindel. This research adopts a qualitative approach and employs library research as its primary method. The analysis is grounded in Gallmann’s (2009) framework on ellipsis. The findings reveal six types of ellipsis present in these five tales: subject ellipsis, object ellipsis, verb ellipsis, prepositional ellipsis, article ellipsis, and coordination ellipsis.
