Analisis Komposita Nomina dalam Artikel Majalah Online Brigitte.de
Abstract
This study aims to analyze noun compounds (Nominalkomposita) in articles published on the online magazine Brigitte.de, focusing on the Starke Frauen section with the hashtag DuBistStark from the 2023–2024 editions. The research focuses on the patterns of noun compound formation and the meanings produced based on the semantic relations between their constituent elements. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with documentation as the data collection technique. The data consist of noun compounds found in selected articles, which are analyzed using Kunkel-Razum’s (2009) theory as presented in Duden - Die Grammatik. The results show that 72 noun compounds relevant to the research focus were identified. All data belong to the category of determinative compounds (Determinativkomposita), consisting of a determinant and a determinatum, where the final element determines both the grammatical category and the basic meaning of the compound. The meanings of the compounds are formed through processes of specification, restriction, or the addition of information provided by the determinant. Furthermore, various semantic relations were identified, including attributive, locative, source, and functional relations, indicating that the formation of compound meanings is systematic and productive. The study also reveals the use of linking morphemes (Fugenmorpheme), particularly -s and -en, whose presence or absence is consistent with the phonological and historical rules of the German language. Overall, the findings demonstrate that noun compounds play an important role in meaning construction and information efficiency in the journalistic language of Brigitte.de. Thus, Kunkel-Razum’s theory proves to be effective and relevant for analyzing the structure and meaning of noun compounds in German popular media.
