Declaration of Generative AI in Scientific Writing

The International Journal of Community Service and Empowerment (IJCSE) requires transparency regarding the use of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation. Authors must disclose any use of generative AI when submitting a manuscript. This declaration applies only to AI-assisted scientific writing and complements the IJCSE Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy, which provides comprehensive guidance on the responsible use of AI in scholarly publishing.

Generative AI may be used only to support language-related tasks, including grammar, spelling, syntax, readability, and language clarity. All AI-assisted content must be carefully reviewed, verified, and, where necessary, revised by the authors to ensure its accuracy, integrity, and consistency with the research. The use of AI must not replace the authors' intellectual contribution or scholarly judgment.

Generative AI tools, including large language models (LLMs), cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship requires human intellectual contribution, accountability, and responsibility for the content of the manuscript.

If generative AI has been used during manuscript preparation, authors must include a disclosure statement at the time of initial submission. Unless otherwise specified in the journal's submission guidelines, the declaration should be placed immediately before the References section.

A declaration is not required for the use of routine non-generative tools, such as conventional spelling and grammar checkers or reference management software, provided they do not generate substantive manuscript content. If no generative AI was used, no declaration is required.

To protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and the integrity of the peer-review process, reviewers and editors must not upload confidential manuscript content or unpublished research materials to unauthorized or publicly accessible AI systems. Any use of AI during peer review must comply with the IJCSE Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy.

IJCSE may periodically review and update this declaration to reflect developments in AI technologies, scholarly publishing practices, and the journal's editorial policies.
