Aims

The International Journal of Community Service and Engagement (IJCSE) is an open-access and peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing knowledge, innovation, and evidence-based practices in community service, community engagement, and community empowerment.

The journal aims to provide an international platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, government institutions, and community organizations to disseminate experiences, innovations, methodologies, and evaluated outcomes of community-based programs. IJCSE particularly promotes the translation of scientific research, technological innovation, and academic expertise into practical solutions that address community needs and contribute to sustainable social, economic, environmental, and institutional development.

The journal welcomes high-quality manuscripts that demonstrate meaningful community participation, knowledge or technology transfer, capacity building, innovation implementation, and measurable impacts on community empowerment and well-being. IJCSE also supports initiatives contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through locally grounded and globally relevant community engagement practices.

Scope

IJCSE publishes original articles and scholarly reports focusing on the planning, implementation, evaluation, and impact of community service and engagement programs across diverse fields and socio-economic sectors. The journal's scope includes, but is not limited to:

1. Community Empowerment and Social Welfare

   Community capacity building, poverty alleviation, social inclusion, livelihood improvement, community resilience, quality of life enhancement, and empowerment of rural, urban, coastal, and other community groups.

2. Gender and Inclusive Community Development

   Gender mainstreaming, women's empowerment, youth engagement, disability inclusion, vulnerable and marginalized communities, and inclusive approaches to community development.

3. Local Economic and Entrepreneurial Empowerment

   Capacity building for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), cooperatives, social entrepreneurship, financial literacy, business development, digital marketing, and strengthening of local economies.

4. Technology Transfer and Digital Transformation

   The application and transfer of appropriate technologies, digital literacy, digital inclusion, digital marketing, information and communication technologies, technological innovation, and research-based solutions for addressing community challenges.

5. Environmental Sustainability and Appropriate Technology

   Community-based environmental management, waste management and recycling, renewable energy, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, environmental conservation, circular economy initiatives, and the implementation of appropriate technologies.

6. Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Security

   Community empowerment through sustainable agriculture, fisheries development, food diversification, food security, agricultural innovation, fisheries technology, and natural resource-based livelihood development.

7. Tourism, Creative Economy, Arts, and Culture

   Community-based tourism, creative economy development, cultural preservation, applied arts, local creative industries, cultural revitalization, and community participation in sustainable tourism development.

8. Education, Health, and Social Development

   Community-based education, literacy programs, inclusive education, public health promotion, sanitation, nutrition, community health interventions, social welfare programs, and community capacity building.

9. Participatory Community Engagement and Action-Based Approaches

   The implementation and evaluation of participatory approaches to community development, including Participatory Action Research (PAR), Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), Service Learning, community-based participatory approaches, and collaborative development initiatives.

10. Disaster Risk Reduction and Community Resilience

    Community preparedness, climate adaptation, disaster mitigation, post-disaster recovery, resilience building, and community-based strategies for addressing environmental and socio-economic vulnerabilities.

Types of Manuscripts Accepted

Community Service and Engagement Articles

Articles documenting the planning, implementation, participatory processes, innovation or technology transfer, and evaluated outcomes of community service and engagement programs.

Community Intervention and Impact Reports

Articles presenting evidence-based evaluations of community interventions, including their social, economic, environmental, educational, technological, health-related, or institutional impacts.

Practice-Based and Empirical Studies

Empirical studies employing qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method approaches that directly examine, evaluate, or support community service, community engagement, empowerment programs, technology transfer, or community-based interventions.

Out of Scope

IJCSE does not consider manuscripts that are purely theoretical, laboratory-based, or discipline-specific research without a clear connection to community service, community engagement, technology transfer, community empowerment, or measurable benefits for communities.
