Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan karakteristik dan level metakognitif siswa dalam memecahkan masalah pada materi asam basa. Data yang di dapat berupa hasil jawaban tertulis dan wawancara. Data tersebut dideskripsikan dan dianalisis kemudian ditinjau keabsahannya menggunakan triangulasi teknik. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMAN 1 Menganti dengan subjek penelitian 9 siswa dari kelas XI MIA 4, terdiri dari tiga siswa kelompok tinggi (Subjek T1, T2, dan T3), 3 siswa kelompok sedang (Subjek S1, S2, dan S3), dan tiga siswa kelompok rendah (Subjek R1, R2, dan R3). Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah kelompok tinggi memiliki karakteristik metakognitif dengan melakukan aktivitas perencanaan, pemantauan, dan refleksi. Kelompok tinggi memiliki indikator karakteristik berfikir/membaca/menulis apa yang diketahui (P-1), menetapkan tujuan (P-2), menetapkan strategi pemecahan masalah (P-3), merencanakan suatu representasi rumus untuk mendukung pemahaman (P-5), menggunakan aturan rumus (M-2), dan merefleksi pada konsep/tujuan apakah telah tercapai (R-1) dan menempati level reflective use, kelompok sedang melakukan aktivitas perencanaan dan pemantauan dengan indikator karakteristik (P-1), (P-2), (P-3), (P-5), dan (M-2) dan menempati level strategic use, dan kelompok rendah melakukan aktivitas perencanaan dan pemantauan dengan indikator karakteristik (P-1), (P-2), dan (M-2) dan menempati level aware use.

The aimof this study is to describe the students’s metacognitive characteristic and its level in acid base problem solving. Data was obtained through the results of written answers and interviews. Data was described and analyzed  to determine the validity of data, a technique triangulation was used. This study was conducted at SMAN 1 Menganti with 9 subjects from XI MIA 4 classthat consist of three students as upper (Subject T1, T2, and T3), three students as middle (Subject S1, S2, and S3), and students as lower (Subject R1, R2, and R3). The results obtained were: the upper group have metacognitive charaterisitic with planning, monitoring, and reflecting activities. The upper group have metacognitive charaterisitic with indicators thinking/reding about the student who know and doesn’t know (P-1), determining goals (P-2),  determining problem solving strategic (P-3), planning a representation a formula to support understanding (P-5), using rules such as formula (M-2), dan reflecting the consepts/ objectives have been achieved (R-1) and placed in Reflective Use Level.

The middle group have metacognitive charaterisitic with planning and monitoring activities. The middle group have metacognitive charaterisitic with indicators (P-1), (P-2), (P-3), (P-5), (M-2), (R-1) and placed in Strategic Use Level. The lower group have metacognitive charaterisitic with planning and monitoring activities. The lower group have metacognitive charaterisitic with indicators (P-1), (P-2), and (M-2) and placed in Aware Use Level.
