Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of interactive multimedia, named as multimedia electrolysis, to be a learning media in the subject of elecytrolysis cell, and also to assess the effect of interactive multimedia on the student’s learning process. The research method was based on the concept of research and development (R & D) that consist of: 1) the preliminary study that covers the assessment of potential and problem as well as collecting the data; 2) the development study that involve the product design, product validation, product revision, and the trial test. The research instruments were consisted of reviewer sheet, validation sheet, student’s response sheet and tests student learning outcomes, those instruments were based on the concept of certainty of response index (CRI). Sources of data were obtained from the lecturer and the teacher in chemistry as well as 15 senior high school students at grade XII. The data were collected by using questionnaire and student’s paper result. Then the data was analyzed by the analysis technique of quantitative descriptive. According to the results, the average value of assessment test by the lecturer and the teacher in chemistry was at 90,20%, while the students’ response to the feasibility of the electrolysis multimedia was at 97,51%. Furthermore, the research revealed that there are some positive effect of the electrolysis multimedia into the student’s learning process, in particular to the change in students’ conceptions including an increase in the number of students who understand the concept from 4,16% to 76,65% and also a decrease in the number of students who have misconceptions from 58,63% to 12,8% as well as the student who does not know the concept from 37,22% to 10,55%. In conclusion, the electrolysis multimedia could be used as a promising media that is useful on the student learning process to understand the concept of electrolysis cell.
