Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the factors that can motivate each student to participate in futsal extracurriculars and to find out why students who take futsal extracurriculars still want to practice in the era of the covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative method.  While the data analysis technique was obtained from observations (performed directly in schools, looking at the physical condition of students, the role of coaches and principals), interviews (amounting to 8 during the interview, 6 futsal extracurricular members, 1 coach and 1 principal), documentation, and exchanging opinions with colleagues. The data analysis technique used the method of Miles and Huberman (1992) by means of data reduction which was carried out in the form of a process of selecting raw data in field notes. Furthermore, the raw data is simplified into discussion topics and arranged in a matrix form. Then the data are arranged in a matrix format, the researcher draws conclusions in a normative description. The results of the interview data showed that student motivation was influenced by several factors, including the number of futsal members had decreased, the remaining members felt bored because there was no physical activity during the pandemic, the remaining members competed with each other to seek immunity by participating in futsal training while observing the protocol health, and improve non-academic achievements during the pandemic. Based on the conclusions obtained from the research on student motivation in participating in futsal extracurricular at SMK KAL-1 Surabaya in the era of the covid-19 pandemic, there has been a changed.
