Abstract

         Vocational education prepares students to work in certain fields. The understanding of vocational high school students should know what are the needs of the business world or the industrial world. This can be supported by the application of a good learning model. The purpose of this study is 1) to find out whether there is a significant influence from the application of the project based learning learning model on the increasing of understanding based on student learning outcomes in basic work subjects at Rajasa vocational high school Surabaya 2) to find out whether the project based learning learning model is effective in increasing the understanding depend on student learning outcomes in subjects basic work lessons at Rajasa vocational high school Surabaya.Researcher apply the use of descriptive quantitative research with a true experiment model post-test only control group design. The technique of data analysis used is t-test and N-gain score test. The result of the research is that there is a significant effect of the application of the project based learning model on student understanding depend on student learning outcomes. The results of the N-gain score test show that the application of the project-based learning model is quite effective in improving the understanding depend on learning outcomes of class X students in basic work subjects at Rajasa vocational high school Surabaya.
