Abstract

Dirjen Pendidikan Vokasi Kemendikbudristek is improving vocational high school education through the Vocational High School Center of Excellence program. One of the programs implemented is the teaching factory. A teaching factory is a learning model that integrates the achievement of school curriculum competencies with production processes in accordance with workplace procedures and standards. Evaluation of a program's implementation is essential to measure the extent to which it aligns with established guidelines. The purpose of this study was to measure the level of compliance of the program implementation with the teaching factory implementation guidelines and to identify supporting factors, obstacles, and solutions. This study employed quantitative and qualitative approaches. The evaluation model used was the comprehensive Illuminative model. The variables used were five parameters of teaching factory implementation: governance, product-based learning, human resources, infrastructure, and partner relationships. Data were collected using questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study stated that the implementation of the teaching factory on five variables produced a value of 91.98% with a very appropriate category. The results of this research evaluation stated that the implementation of the teaching factory in the mechanical engineering expertise program at SMK “X” Surabaya could be continued with several suggestions or solutions for improvement. Solutions to the inhibiting factors provided included attaching work instructions, procuring work paths, procuring practical materials from services, procuring block system learning, increasing the number of managers/instructors, procuring MRC cards, and continuous job orders.
