IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TEACHING FACTORY PROGRAM IN THE LIGHT VEHICLE AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT AT SMK NEGERI 3 JOMBANG

Abstract

This study focuses on discussing the implementation of the Teaching Factory (Tefa) program at SMK Negeri 3 Jombang and identifying its supporting and inhibiting factors. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method. The data collected were sourced from the Program Team, Industrial Partners, and students of SMK Negeri 3 Jombang. Data collection techniques used in this study include observation, interviews, and documentation through the snowball sampling technique. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s analysis technique, which involves data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification. The validity of the data was ensured through triangulation. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the implementation of Tefa at SMK Negeri 3 Jombang follows a production-based approach, involves students, refers to industrial standards, collaborates with industry partners, and aims to shape students’ character. The implementation of Tefa at SMK Negeri 3 Jombang is carried out through stages starting from order intake, order analysis, readiness declaration, order execution, product evaluation, product packaging, to product delivery. Supporting factors for the implementation of Tefa include competent teachers and program teams, adequate supporting facilities, and cooperation with industry partners. Inhibiting factors include students' lack of skills in meeting industrial standards and the limited number of industry partners.
