Abstact
As the manufacturing industry advances, surface roughness is very important in determining product quality. Especially in machining such as milling machines. because the product determines the value of friction, wear, lubrication and others. The machining process will produce roughness which is a reference for the evaluation of machining products. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of rotational speed and endmill cutter attachment type HSS on the level of roughness of aluminum. Using the literature study method by collecting related literature then the data obtained was analyzed to answer the problem. This scientific article aims to find out whether it is true that a surface roughness is influenced by several factors such as feeding speed, type of tool material, rotational speed and others. The results of a review of several related articles state that there is an influence of rotational speed, type of material and also the type of tool material. The results of several articles state that the use of speeds of 700 Rpm to 1100 Rpm produces the best level of surface roughness, namely at a speed of 1100 Rpm with 1.24 m, because it is influenced by relatively soft aluminum material and HSS chisel which has a high level of hardness. A good engine rotation speed will produce a good level of roughness, not too low and not too high because all factors are interrelated.
