PROSES PEMBENTUKAN IDENTITAS SEKSUAL KAUM GAY DI SURABAYA

Membincangkan persoalan tentang Gay seringkali menimbulkan perdebatan di kalangan ilmuwan sosial dan masyarakat. Gay dianggap sebagai penyakit dan suatu ketidaknormalan dalam konteks masyarakat yang heteronormatif. Namun terlepas dari polemik yang ada penelitian ini secara spesifik membahas tentang bagaimana proses pembentukan identitas seksual dikalangan kaum Gay di Surabaya. Dengan menggunakan teori konstruksi sosial Peter L. Berger dan kajian identitas Stuart Hall, konsep yang digunakan yakni eksternalisasi, objektivasi, dan internalisasi. Sedangkan metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif dengan pendekatan konstruksi sosial. Lokasi dan waktu penelitian ini yakni di Taman Bungkul, bulan Oktober-Maret 2016. Hasil penelitian ini yakni menemukan bahwa identitas seksual terbentuk melalui dua tahapan sosialisasi. Sosialisasi pertama yakni dari keluarga, namun nilai yang ditanamkan banyak ketidakcocokan sehingga mereka merasa bukan seperti yang diharapkan, karena merasa dirinya Gay sehingga mereka masuk kedalam kelompok-kelompok Gay dan mengalami sosialisasi yang kedua. Tahapan sosialisasi kedua inilah mereka menjalani tahapan eksternalisasi, objektivasi, dan internalisasi, dan ternyata identitas seksual mereka sangatlah cair dan bisa berubah sesuai dengan kondisi sosio-kultural.

The results of this study which found that sexual identity is formed through two stages of socialization.
