Abstrak

Stigmatisasi ‘waria sebagai pembawa HIV-AIDS’ menjadi problematika masyarakat. Hal tersebut memicu keikutsertaan peran komunitas waria untuk mengembangkan hidup anggotanya dan menghindari labelling pada diri mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pandangan (konstruksi sosial) waria tentang HIV-AIDS dan upaya apa saja yang mereka lakukan (akses pelayanan kesehatan) guna memperbaiki citra waria di masyarakat. Untuk menjawab permasalahan diatas, teori yang dipergunakan pada penelitian ini berkaitan dengan stigma dan konstruksi sosial, yang masing-masing dikemukakan oleh Erving Goffman dan Peter L. Berger. Temuan data yang diperoleh menjelaskan konstruksi sosial waria tentang HIV-AIDS, yaitu adanya pandangan waria bahwa HIV-AIDS adalah sesuatu yang menakutkan (peduli kesehatan), dan juga berperilaku tidak peduli terhadap kesehatan (HIV-AIDS tidak menakutkan). Selain itu, diperoleh juga pemahaman informan tentang HIV-AIDS berupa perubahan sikap dan tindakan waria dalam menanggulangi penularan HIV-AIDS. Terkait kesehatan waria, penelitian ini juga memaparkan akses pelayanan kesehatan di Surabaya dengan penjelasan sikap dan peran petugas medis terhadap waria serta hak-hak waria terhadap kesehatan.

Abstract

The stigmatization about ‘transexual as HIV-AIDS’ carrier’ has been problematic in the society. These make the transexual community get into developing their member’s life to avoid their selves labeling. These study aim to understand (social construction) the transexual itself about the HIV-AIDS and what have they done to cure their selves(the health service access) in order to back up their image in the society. To solve this problem, methodology which is used in this case related to the point of view and the stigma social construction, each of which is explained by Goffman and Peter L. Berger. The data obtained shows the transexual’s social construction about HIV-AIDS, the point of view about the HIV-AIDS is a frightering things (who care about health), who doesn’t care about health (HIV-AIDS isn’t frightening things). And the additiona to, the informant comprehence about HIV-AIDS are the transexual’s changing attitude and behaviour about how to transexual prevent the HIV-AIDS infections. Related to the healthy, these study also explain the access of health service in Surabaya by a clear explanations and the roles of medic to transexual also the right for health to transexual.
