Menyapih  merupakan pemutusan Air Susu Ibu ASI eksklusif oleh ibu kepada anaknya dan mengganti dengan makanan orang dewasa atau dengan susu formula sebagai pengganti ASI. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui motif ibu dalam menyapih anaknya. Motif sebab (because of motive), serta motif dari tujuan (in order to motive)  seorang ibu dalam menyapih anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatifnserta menggunakan perspektif teori Fenomenologi Alfred Schutz yang mengkaji tentang motif sebab serta motif dari tujuan. Penelitian ini menemukan motif sebab serta tujuan dari menyapih anak Desa Ciro Kecamatan Balongbendo Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Adapun motif sebab menyapih anak adalah karena bekerja, reproduksi ASI yang tidak lancar. Sedangkan untuk motif tujan adalah: dengan bekerja dapat memiliki ekonomi sosial yang baik dan diharapkan memiliki status sosial yang tinggi dalam lingkuan sosialnya, menganggap bahwa susu formula juga tidak kalah bagus dengan ASI eksklusif.

Abstract

       Weaning is the termination of exclusive breastfeeding from the mother to her child and replacing it with adult food or formula milk as a substitute for breast milk. This study aims to determine the motives of mothers in weaning their children. The motive of the cause (because of motive), as well as the motive of the purpose (in order to motive) of a mother in weaning her child. This study uses a qualitative approach and uses the perspective of Alfred Schutz's phenomenology theory which examines the motive of cause and motive of the goal. This study found the motives for the cause and purpose of weaning children in Ciro Village, Balongbendo District, Sidoarjo Regency. The motive for weaning children is because of work, the reproduction of breast milk is not smooth. Meanwhile, the main motive is: by working, you can have a good social economy and are expected to have a high social status in your social environment, assuming that formula milk is no less good than exclusive breastfeeding
