KONFLIK DAN INTEGRASI DALAM PERSPEKTIF PEMULUNG DI SURABAYA

Pemulung sebagai salah satu pelaku sosial yang melakukan interaksi dengan masyarakat tentu juga tidak luput dari sebuah pertentangan dengan orang–orang yang ada di sekitar mereka, salah satunya dengan pihak pabrik. Pihak pabrik sering sekali memonopoli harga, seperti barang kualitas bagus dibeli dengan harga yang murah dan mempersulit ketika proses penjualan. Hal itu membuat seluruh masyarakat pemulung geram karena merasa dirugikan. Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk mengetahui konflik yang terjadi pada lingkungan pemulung, mengidentifikasi peran Ikatan Pemulung Indonesia (IPI) Jawa Timur dan mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk integrasi pada lingkungan pemulung dikota Surabaya. Pisau analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori fungsionalisme konflik Lewis A. Coser serta metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fungsionalisme konflik Coser. Konflik yang terjadi diantara kedua belah pihak adalah mengenai harga dan proses penjualan yang dipersulit oleh pihak pabrik. Namun, munculnya konflik justru meningkatkan integrasi di dalam kelompok pemulung. Terbukti dengan bersatunya mereka untuk mendirikan organisasi Ikatan Pemulung Indonesia (IPI) Jawa Timur.  Peran penting dari organisasi pemulung ini selain sebagai katup penyelamat saat terjadi konflik, organisasi ini juga telah mampu merubah kehidupan para pemulung.

Abstract

Scavengers as one of subject social interact with others in their environment, certainly it was not escaped from conflict with people around them, like conflict with the factory. The factory often monopolize the cost of goods, for instance, they paid  low price the goods with high quality and made selling process become difficult for the scavengers. That caused all the scavengers were aggrieved then blow up. Therefore, those  matters emerged conflict between the factory and the scavengers. This study investigated conflic which was happened in scavengers environment, indentified the role of organization of Indonesian scavengers (IPI) in East Java, also described the forms of integration in the scavenger environment in Surabaya.The reseacher used theory of conflict functionalism by Lewis A. Coser and qualitative method with conflict functionalism approach by Coser. Conflict happened between two sides (the factory and the scavengers) ws about the cost and selling process. However, the conflict emergence increased integration in the group of scavenger. It was proved that they gathered to establish an organization Ikatan Pemulung Indonesia (IPI) of East Java. Beside as savety valve through conflict happened, the important role of the organization was also able to change the scavengers’ life.
