Gerakan-gerakan sosial yang melibatkan perempuan hal ini membuktikan bahwa perempuan dapat menunjukkan jati diri dan eksistensi dalam sektor publik seperti dalam berpolitik. Partisipasi dan representasi politik perempuan jelas merupakan bentuk perjuangan dan usaha secara kemanusiaan agar semua manusia, baik perempuan, laki-laki, dari semuat etnis golongan, ras, agama, bangsa, dan negara dapat merasakan dan memperoleh sesuatu yang dicapai, yaitu hak-hak kemanusian serta gerakan yang dilakukan perempuan berkaitan dengan proses demokrasi. Tingkat partisipasi mahasiswipada organisasi kemahasiswaan tidak lebih dari 20% dari jumlah seluruh aktitivis organisasi yang ada. Dari persentasi tersebut, mahasiswi hanya menduduki posisi kurang strategis, seperti wakil bendahara, bidang kewanitaan, atau seksi konsumsi dan administrasi jika dalam kepanitiaan. Hanya sebagian kecil yang berada ditampuk kepemimpinan yang tertinggi dalam struktur organisasi. latar belakang partisipasi politik mahasiswi mempunyai motif keinginan sendiri, dorongan atau dukungan, dan mobilisasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan Subjek dalam penelitian ini yang dipilih dengan cara purposive. Bentuk partisipasi politik mahasiswi terbagi dalam tiga masa yaitu pra kepemimpinan, saat memimpin, dan pasca kepemimpinan yang tergolong dalam tipologi partisipan, subjek, parokial.
