Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability of kindergarten teachers in Laipandak Village, Wulla Waijelu District, East Sumba Regency, in making innovative literacy media through teacher training. The background of this study is the low skills of teachers in developing literacy learning media that are appropriate for early childhood, which has an impact on the less than optimal learning process. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), which is used to see changes and developments in teacher abilities. Each cycle includes the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection with data collection techniques in the form of observation and documentation. Problems in research with improving teacher abilities in making literacy media through innovative teacher training in Laipandak Village, Wulla Waijelu District, East Sumba Regency (1) How is the teacher's understanding of the importance of literacy for early childhood? (2) How is the improvement of teacher abilities in making literacy media through innovative teacher training? The results of the study showed that this training had a positive impact on improving teacher skills in making literacy media, increasing their understanding of the importance of literacy media in early childhood education, and motivating teachers to continue to innovate in the learning process. It can be seen from the results before the training 40% and after the training 90%. In conclusion, this research is expected to provide a positive influence on improving the ability to create literacy media for kindergarten teachers and encourage the implementation of training that can support a good learning process for children in remote rural areas
