Abstract

Storytelling Ability in Al-Khoirot Balongsari Surabaya Kindergarten for children aged 5-6 years found that teachers did not optimize the use of learning media. Teachers introduced media with story books then teachers told children to read the story book, when observing children still could not retell the contents of the story, did not understand the contents or storyline that had been read, with the media provided by the teacher did not affect the development of their learning especially in storytelling skills. Formulation of the problem "How are the UTATIK (Thematic Snakes and Ladders) game activities in improving storytelling skills in children aged 5-6 years through the UTATIK (Thematic Snakes and Ladders) game at Al-Khoirot Balongsari Surabaya Kindergarten?". The purpose of the study was to describe the UTATIK (Thematic Snakes and Ladders) game activities in improving storytelling skills in children aged 5-6 years through the UTATIK (Thematic Snakes and Ladders) game. This type of research is Classroom Action Research which focuses on classroom situations. Data collection tools consist of observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques by means of data reduction, data display and data verification. By using this analysis, the author can conclude that the results can be seen from the increase in children's storytelling abilities at each meeting.
