Abstract

The aim of this research is to explain the development process as well as the feasibility and effectiveness of a guidebook with thematic poetry on the language skills of early childhood (5-6 years). There is a need for the application of this guidebook which will be able to provide an overview for children to explore with vocabulary arranged into sentences and children can recognize various styles of body language and facial expressions and how to practice them with voices or intonations that have different emphasis. . This poetry guide book can also be used during activities at the peak of the theme. This research method is development or R&D (Research and Development) using the 4D Holistic approach model (Define-Design-Development-Disseminate) where this model can be applied as a basis for creating effective sources of teaching materials for children, namely in the form of guidebooks. In this research, the validity used is material experts and media experts. The results of the validation calculations for the thematic poetry guidebook assessment instruments by material experts and media experts were declared valid. The sample in this study was Group B or with an age range of 5-6 years totaling 15 children at RA Unggulan Assa'adah Surabaya. The data collection technique in this research uses observation sheets. The results of the n-gain test values ​​for observations before and after treatment show a difference in values ​​of 0.5-0.6, meaning that the g value is 0.3 ≤ g ≤ 0.7 in the medium category.
