Pengembangan Worksheet Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Anak Mengenal Kendaraan Kapal Laut Anak Usia 5-6 Tahun

Abstract

Learning in early childhood education requires engaging instructional media that are appropriate to children's developmental characteristics in order to enhance their cognitive abilities. Preliminary observations conducted at TKIT Wildani 2 Surabaya revealed that children aged 5–6 years experienced difficulties in recognizing the types and characteristics of sea vessels due to the limited variety of learning media used during classroom instruction. This study aimed to develop a worksheet on the theme of sea transportation, determine its feasibility, and describe its implementation in improving children's ability to recognize sea vessels. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through observations, documentation, and expert validation involving both material and media experts. The developed product was subsequently tested on four children aged 5–6 years at TKIT Wildani 2 Surabaya. The findings indicate that the worksheet comprises nine learning activities, including puzzles, mazes, picture matching, ship-name matching, and ship-pattern sewing activities. The material expert validation yielded a feasibility score of 80%, while the media expert validation also achieved 80%, indicating that the worksheet is feasible for use with minor revisions. The product trial demonstrated that children's ability to recognize different types of sea vessels reached 89.1%, while their ability to identify the characteristics of sea vessels reached 88.8%, resulting in an overall achievement score of 88.9%. These findings suggest that the developed sea transportation worksheet is a feasible and effective learning medium for helping children aged 5–6 years recognize the types and characteristics of sea vessels through engaging, concrete, and developmentally appropriate learning activities.
