Author Guidelines
Pensa E-Journal: Pendidikan Sains (Science Education Journal)
Aims and Scope
Pensa E-Journal: Pendidikan Sains publishes original research papers, literature reviews, and conceptual articles in the field of science education, especially innovation in the science curriculum, development of local instructional theories, implementation of innovative learning models on science education, and also examines secondary, tertiary, and informal learning as they relate to science education.
All published articles are open access and distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). Authors are required to include a Statement of Open Access upon submission.
Submission Policy
- Manuscripts must be submitted online through the journal’s submission system.
- If technical problems occur, submission may be made via email to the editorial office.
- The manuscript must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
- Authors must submit a Statement of Manuscript Authenticity and a Statement of Open Access.
Authorship and Affiliation
- Manuscripts should be written by at least two authors, preferably from different institutions (and countries, if possible).
- Include full names (without academic titles), institutional affiliations (department, university, address, city, and country), and email addresses for all authors.
Types of Manuscripts
- Research Article – empirical studies in science education.
- Review Article – analytical or critical reviews on science education topics.
Language and Length
- Manuscripts may be written in English or Indonesian (depending on journal policy).
Title and Author Information
- The title should be written in English and Indonesian (if applicable).
- Use Times New Roman, 12 pt, bold (English title) and 11 pt, bold (Indonesian title).
- Include author names, affiliations, and the corresponding author’s email address.
Abstract and Keywords
- The abstract must be written in both English and Indonesian, in one paragraph, no longer than 300 words.
- It should include: background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
- Do not include references, equations, tables, or figures.
- Use Times New Roman 11, italic.
- Provide 3–5 keywords in both English and Indonesian.
Manuscript Structure
For Research Articles
- Introduction, outlines background, theoretical framework, research gap, and objectives/questions.
- Method, provides detailed and replicable research procedures (design, participants, instruments, and analysis).
- Results and Discussion, summarizes findings, interprets results with relevant literature, discusses implications for theory and practice.
- Conclusion and Recommendations, summarizes key findings and provides suggestions for future research or educational practice.
- Acknowledgments (if any).
- References (APA 7th style).
For Review Articles
- Introduction, states background, focus, and purpose of the review.
- Discussion, organizes and analyzes relevant literature critically and thematically.
- Conclusion, summarizes findings, identifies research gaps, and provides future recommendations.
- Acknowledgments.
- References.
Figures, Tables, and Equations
Figures
- Use high-quality images (.jpg, .png, or .bmp).
- Captions are placed below the figure, centered, Times New Roman 10 pt.
- When reproducing images from other sources, permission must be obtained and the source cited.
Tables
- Table titles are placed above the table, capitalize each main word.
- Use single spacing, font size 10 pt or larger.
- Use a period (“.”) as the decimal separator (e.g., 0.25).
- All tables should have clear column and row headers.
Equations
- Number equations consecutively, aligned to the right in parentheses (e.g., (1), (2)).
- Use SI units and standard notation.
- Avoid unexplained abbreviations and footnotes.
Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure
Authors must declare any conflict of interest (financial or non-financial).
All sources of financial or institutional support should be clearly acknowledged in the manuscript.
Citation and Reference Style (APA 7th Edition)
- Pensa E-Journal adopts the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition style.
Peer Review Process
- All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review by at least two qualified reviewers.
- Acceptance is based on novelty, scientific contribution, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s focus.
- Editorial decisions include acceptance, revision (minor/major), or rejection.
Copyright and Licensing
- Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication.
- Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
- Authors may share the final version (postprint) in institutional repositories with acknowledgment of original publication in Pensa E-Journal: Pendidikan Sains.
Privacy Statement
All personal data (names, emails, affiliations) entered in this journal’s website are used exclusively for editorial and publication purposes and will not be shared with third parties.
