Abstract

Portland Cement (PC) contributes about 7-10% of total Carbon Dioxide (CO2) globally. Many innovation
have been done to reduce or replace cement as a building material continues to be developed. Fly ash is
one of the innovation materials used to replace cement, but fly ash don’t have the ability to bind the
materials, just like cement that requires water to be the activators. Fly Ash also requires activators in the
form of Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) and Sodium Silicate (Na2SiO3). Geopolimer curing requires high
temperatures in order to speed up the polymerization reactions during the hardening process (Wardhono
et al. 2012). This research using NaOH 12 Molar geopolimer mortar with temperature curing of 60°C,
80°C, 100°C and 3 hours, 6 hours, and 24 hours in each temprature. The results showed that the
temperature curing was able to increase the compressive strength of the geopolimer mortar. The highest
compressive strength is produced at 100°C for 6 hours heat curing time. The result of compressive strenght
in each days (7, 14, 28) at 100°C in 6 hours curing time are 49.93 MPa, 40.73 MPa, 32.21 MPa. these
result shown that heat curing method can increase the compressive strength at days 7, but it will decrease
the compressive strength of the mortar as the mortar ages.
