EVALUATION OF COLDMIX ON FLEXIBLE PAVEMENT AS A REPLACEMENT FOR HOTMIX IN SUMENEP DISTRICT

Roads are very important land transportation infrastructure to facilitate the distribution of goods, services and community activities. In 2023 for the Poteran Islands, Talango District, Sumenep Regency is budgeted through the Sumenep Regency APBD by using a Compact Graded Emulsion Asphalt Mix (CAEBR) as a substitute for hotmix. This research was conducted to determine the value of density when in the field whether it is in accordance with the planned density value, and also the effectiveness and feasibility of CAEBR for pavement layers on the islands. Marshall test results showed that the values of stability, flow, and density increased with increasing number of impacts. However, the density value in the laboratory was lower than the density value in the field. The density values in the laboratory are 1.839 gr/cm3, 1.852 gr/cm3, 1.858 gr/cm3, 1.859 gr/cm3, 1.901 gr/cm3, and 1.925 gr/cm3. The density values in the field were 2.188 gr/cm3, 2.19 gr/cm3, 2.191 gr/cm3, 2.192 gr/cm3, 2.198 gr/cm3, and 2.199 gr/cm3. The factor that causes this is that the compaction process in the field can be different from the laboratory. Different compaction tools and different compaction methods can produce varying densities.
