Manuscripts submitted to Unesa Journal of Chemistry must be prepared using the UJC Manuscript Template. Manuscripts may be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English, while the title, abstract, and keywords must be written in both Bahasa Indonesia and English. Manuscripts that do not follow these guidelines and the template may be returned to the authors before review.

General Format

• Paper size: A4, with margins of 2.45 cm (top), 3.45 cm (bottom), and 2.29 cm (left and right).
• Font: Times New Roman 11 pt with single line spacing, unless stated otherwise below.
• Layout: the title, author information, abstract, and keywords are written in one column; the main text (Introduction to References) is written in two columns.

Title

• Written in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
• Times New Roman 12 pt, bold, in UPPERCASE letters.
• Maximum 15 words, arranged in an inverted pyramid shape.

Authors and Affiliations

• Full names of all authors, written without academic titles. The corresponding author is marked with an asterisk (*).
• Full institutional address of each author (department, faculty, university, street address, postal code, and telephone number).
• Telephone/fax number and e-mail address of the corresponding author.

Abstract and Keywords

• The abstract is written in two languages: Bahasa Indonesia (Abstrak) and English (Abstract).
• Times New Roman 11 pt, single spacing, italic, maximum 200 words.
• The abstract briefly states the aim, methods, and main results of the research. It should be self-contained and must not contain citations.
• Keywords (Kata kunci / Keywords): a maximum of 4 keywords, written in both languages.

Manuscript Structure

The main text consists of the following sections, with section headings written in UPPERCASE letters:

1. Introduction – the background of the research, its objectives, and a review of the relevant literature that supports the study. This section should be succinct, with no subheadings.
2. Research Methods – divided into the subsections Materials, Instruments, and Research Procedures. The procedures may be further divided into subsections and should be described in sufficient detail so that the work can be repeated.
3. Results and Discussion – presents the results and their interpretation, supported by relevant references. It may be divided into subheadings.
4. Conclusion – clearly states the main conclusions of the work and their significance, answering the research objectives.
5. Acknowledgments (if any) – may include the funding source, grant program, and contract number.
6. References.

Citations and References

• References are cited in the text using numbers in square brackets according to the order of citation, e.g., “as discussed by Franco [3]” or “as reported elsewhere [1,2]”.
• The reference list is numbered in the order in which the references are cited in the text (not in alphabetical order) and follows the IEEE style.
• All references in the list must be cited in the text, and all citations must appear in the reference list. Authors are responsible for the completeness and accuracy of each reference. The use of reference management software (e.g., Mendeley or Zotero) is recommended.

Figures

• Figures are numbered consecutively (Figure 1, Figure 2, …) and cited in the text in that order.
• Each figure has a descriptive caption placed below the figure.
• Figures must be clear and legible; bitmap images should have a resolution of at least 300 dpi. If the article is accepted, authors may be asked to provide the source files of the figures.

Tables

• Tables are numbered consecutively (Table 1, Table 2, …) and cited in the text in that order.
• Each table has a descriptive title placed above the table.
• Units of measurement are written in the column headings. Use horizontal lines only; vertical lines should not be used.

Equations

• Equations are written using an equation editor and numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals in parentheses at the right margin, e.g., (1), (2).
• All symbols used in an equation must be defined immediately after the equation.

Submission and Publication Process

The process from submission to publication in Unesa Journal of Chemistry is as follows:

1. Registration. Authors register or log in to the UJC website.
2. Submission. The manuscript, prepared with the UJC template, is submitted through Online Submission after all items in the submission checklist are completed.
3. Initial screening. The Editorial Office checks the scope, the template, the completeness of the submission, and the similarity level using Turnitin (maximum 25%, excluding references) within up to 2 weeks. The Editor-in-Chief or a Section Editor then assesses the novelty and scientific quality of the manuscript; manuscripts that do not meet the criteria may be rejected at this stage (desk rejection). 4. Peer review. Manuscripts that pass the screening are reviewed by at least two reviewers in a double-blind process, normally within 3 to 6 weeks, including the invitation of reviewers. See Peer Review Process.
5. Editorial decision. Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editor decides on one of the following: Accepted, Revisions Required (minor or major), Resubmit for Review, or Declined. If the reviewers’ opinions conflict, the editor may invite an additional reviewer.
6. Revision. Authors submit the revised manuscript with a point-by-point response letter within the deadline set by the editor (up to 2 weeks for minor revisions and up to 4 weeks for major revisions).
7. Acceptance. Once the revisions are satisfactory, the final decision is made (normally within 2 weeks) and the authors receive a notification of acceptance.
8. Production. The accepted manuscript goes through copyediting, layout, and proofreading by the authors.
9. Publication fee. Authors pay the publication fee after acceptance. See Publication Fees.
10. Publication. The article is published online in the next available issue with a DOI and is freely available under the CC BY 4.0 license.

The estimated time from submission to the editorial decision is about 8 to 13 weeks. Authors who disagree with a rejection decision may submit an appeal as described in the Peer Review Process.
