PERBEDAAN TINGKAT STRES DITINJAU DARI EMPTY NEST SYNDROME DAN STATUS IBU

Abstrak

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji perbedaan tingkat stres ditinjau dari status ibu dan tingkat empty nest

syndrome, serta menguji pengaruh antara interaksi tingkat empty nest syndrome dan status ibu terhadap

tingkat stres. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian komparatif.

Sampel adalah ibu rumah tangga dan ibu bekerja berjumlah 60 orang yang berdomisili di kelurahan Dukuh

Kupang Surabaya, Sampel penelitian diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data diambil menggunakan

skala tingkat stres dan skala empty nest syndrome dengan metode skala likert. Analisis data menggunakan

teknik analisis varian 2 jalur dengan bantuan program komputer SPSS (Statistical Product and Service

Solution) versi 17.0 for windows. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan tingkat stres ditinjau dari

status ibu (p=0,000), terdapat perbedaan tingkat stres ditinjau dari tingkat empty nest syndrome (p=0,002),

dan interaksi status ibu dengan empty nest syndrome tidak memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap

tingkat stres (p=0,625). Berdasarkan status ibu, ibu rumah tangga memiliki tingkat stres yang lebih tinggi

daripada ibu bekerja. Berdasarkan tingkat empty nest syndrome, tingkat empty nest syndrome tinggi

cenderung menyebabkan tingkat stres yang lebih tinggi daripada tingkat empty nest syndrome rendah.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the difference the level of stress between working mothers and non

working ones with different level of empty nest syndrome, and to test the interaction effect between the level

of empty nest syndrome and status of mother on the level of stress. This research combined a quantitative

approach and comparative research methods. Sample collected was working mothers and non working ones

amount to 60 people who live in kelurahan Dukuh Kupang Surabaya. It was taken by purposive sampling

technique. Data was collected with the level of stress scale and the level of empty nest syndrome scale with

likert scale. Data analysis were performed using Two Path Analysis of Variance with the help of computer

program SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions) version 17.0 for Windows. The result shows there

are difference the level of stress between working mothers and non working ones (p=0,000), with different

level of empty nest syndrome (p=0,002), and interaction between status of mother with empty nest syndrome

does not have a significant influence on the level of stress in kelurahan Dukuh Kupang Surabaya (p=0,625).

Based on status of mothers, non working mothers have the level of stres higher than working mothers. Based

on the level of empty nest syndrome, the high level of empty nest syndrome can cause stress higher than the

low level of empty nest syndrome.
