REPRESENTASI INTENSIVE MOTHERING PADA TOKOH SOO-AH DALAM FILM BE WITH YOU (2018): ANALISIS SEMIOTIKA ROLAND BARTHES

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana representasi intensive mothering pada tokoh Soo-Ah dalam film Be With You (2018). Ideologi intensive mothering yang dikemukakan Sharon Hays (1996) menempatkan ibu sebagai penanggung jawab utama pengasuhan anak yang bersifat child-centered, labor-intensive, emotionally absorbing, expert-guided, dan financially expensive. Film Korea Selatan dipilih sebagai objek kajian mengingat tingginya konsumsi budaya populer Korea (Hallyu) di Indonesia yang berpotensi memperkuat resonansi ideologi keibuan tersebut dengan konstruksi ibuisme yang telah mengakar dalam masyarakat Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif serta metode analisis semiotika Roland Barthes yang membedah tanda melalui tiga tahap pemaknaan, yaitu denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Data primer diperoleh melalui observasi dan dokumentasi terhadap enam adegan terpilih secara purposive sampling yang menampilkan tokoh Soo-Ah, dengan teknik keabsahan data berupa peer debriefing dan analisis data model Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari lima ciri intensive mothering menurut Hays, tiga di antaranya terbukti secara konsisten direpresentasikan melalui tokoh Soo-Ah, yaitu child-centered, labor-intensive, dan emotionally absorbing. Ketiga indikator tersebut dibangun secara berlapis melalui elemen sinematik seperti wardrobe, pencahayaan, sudut pengambilan gambar, dan dialog, yang secara kumulatif menaturalisasi pengabdian ibu sebagai identitas utama perempuan, diperkuat oleh penghapusan identitas personal Soo-Ah sejalan dengan konsep the Other dan immanence dari Simone de Beauvoir.
