Allegation of Research Misconduct

Independent Journal of Economics is committed to maintaining scientific integrity and supporting sustainable academic discourse. We believe that the peer review process does not end when an article is published. Therefore, we provide a Post-Publication Discussion mechanism to facilitate responses, constructive criticism, and clarification of published articles.

  1. Discussion and Response Format Readers, researchers, or practitioners who wish to provide scientific feedback on published articles can submit:
  • Letter to the Editor: A brief academic commentary or critique focusing on the methodology, findings, or interpretation of the data in the relevant article.
  • Author Response: The author of the original article will be given the opportunity to respond fairly and objectively to the feedback.
  1. Submission Requirements: Every post-publication discussion manuscript must meet the following criteria:
  • Be submitted politely, substantively, ethically, and supported by valid scientific evidence or references.
  • Do not contain personal elements, defamation, or inadequate language.
  • Submitted via the OJS system or the official editorial email, including the title of the main article and the relevant DOI.
  1. Review and Decision Process
  • The editors will evaluate the appropriateness of the issues raised. If deemed relevant and significantly impacting the substance of the article, the discussion manuscript will be reviewed by the Editorial Board or an independent reviewer.
  • If approved, the Letter to the Editor and Author Response will be published together in a future volume/issue and linked directly to the original article.
  1. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern If post-publication discussions reveal significant errors, unintentional data errors, or violations of publication ethics (such as plagiarism or data manipulation):
  • Corrections (Errata/Corrigenda): Issued if there are minor technical or data errors that need to be corrected without invalidating the main conclusions of the article.
  • Expressions of Concern: Issued by the editor if serious violations are found and are still under investigation.
  • Article Retraction: Carried out in accordance with COPE guidelines if the article's findings are proven to be invalid, misleading, or in serious violation of scientific ethics.
