The role of education in a country is very important. The quality of human resources of a nation is determined by the quality of education provided to its citizens. As one of the secondary schools in Indonesia, the measurement of the quality of Vocational High School or vocational school is by preparing students to immediately enter the world of work or the world of entrepreneurship. Based on the observations made in Class X Department of Mechanical Engineering SMK N 3 Surabaya, found difficulties in learning basic automotive engineering (TDO).
Students are less likely to participate because the method is uninteresting and relies on blackboard media. Applying different cooperative learning models, such as the Example Non Example model, is one way to enhance learning outcomes and student engagement.
This study aims to apply the example non-example learning method to the teaching and learning process in order to know how class X mechanical engineering students at SMK N 3 Surabaya, who are taught Basic Automotive Engineering (TDO) using this method, respond. The participants in this study are fourth-year TKR students enrolled in Basic Automotive Engineering, and the research design is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). Planning, carrying out, observing, and reflecting were the steps used to carry out this study. Observations, testing, and documentation were used to gather research data, which was then evaluated using descriptive statistics.
