Abstract

The learning approach used at SMK YPM 4 Taman is still lacking in the subject of light vehicle engine maintenance practice because the learning is still teacher-centered, resulting in low student responses and learning outcomes, resulting in a lack of student understanding and a lack of enthusiasm when carrying out the practice. This study aims to determine the response and influence of the STEM-based learning approach on student learning outcomes. This research is a quasi-experimental study because it aims to implement an action or treatment. The subjects were 11th-grade students majoring in Light Vehicle Engineering at SMK YPM 4 Taman. Data analysis used to test the hypothesis after the samples were treated was an independent sample t-test. The response results obtained were 92%, included in the very good category. The response results obtained were 92%, included in the very good category. The results of the analysis of the influence of the STEM-based learning approach obtained a value with a calculated t value of -18.798 with a Sig.(2-tailed) or p-value = 0.000. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant influence of the STEM-based learning approach on learning outcomes.
