EXPLORING SONG LYRICS OF TAYLOR SWIFT’S ALBUM ‘FOLKLORE’; DEICTIC EXPRESSION

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to find the deixis and referring expressions used in the song lyrics of Taylor Swift’s album ‘folklore’ determined by the theme used in the songsto help the listener understand the whole story behind the song.  This research belongs to qualitative methods where the researcher used documentation. The result is the theme determine the deixis used in the song lyrics and deixis used in the songs are personal deixis followed by temporal deixis and spatial deixis.
