Abstract

Vocabulary is an innate ability, as well as a standard for a person to be fluent in a foreign language. Based on the results of the assessment of speaking skills for vocabulary mastery that has been done shows the average score of SMAN 1 Driyorejo students amounted to 71 which is still under the KKM. For this reason, there is a need for alternative solutions to improve students ' vocabulary mastery in speaking skills. Therefore, this research exists to answer the problem 1) how the response of students of Class XI IPA 5 SMAN 1 Driyorejo to the application of Wordwall for vocabulary mastery on the theme “Essen und Trinken” in German speaking skills? 2) How do students learn from the application of Wordwall for mastery of vocabulary themed “Essen und Trinken” in German language skills class XI SMAN 1 Driyorejo?. The purpose of this study is to describe the responses and learning outcomes of students of Grade XI IPA 5 SMAN 1 Driyorejo to the application of Wordwall as a vocabulary learning support on the theme of “Essen und Trinken” (Food and Drink) for German speaking skills. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. The source of data in this study are students of Class XI IPA 5 SMAN 1 Driyorejo totaling 36 people. The Data used are the results of observation sheets, questionnaires, and tests of German speaking skills. The successful application of Wordwall can be seen from the results of student responses increased at the first meeting obtained 66.67%, the second meeting 70.83%, and the third meeting 91.67%. While the student learning outcomes at the first meeting averaged 66.66, the second meeting 84.72, and the third meeting 94.44. In conclusion Wordwall media can be used as a choice of Learning media for mastery of vocabulary in German speaking skills XI IPA 5 SMAN 1 Driyorejo.
