Abstract

Listening skills are essential for communication, interaction, and achieving learning objectives.. However, listening learning is sometimes still conducted conventionally. The use of media can be an alternative for educators in the learning process. Nowadays, audiovisual media can be easily accessed through the internet and digital applications on mobile devices, and one of them is YouTube. One active YouTube channel that provides video discussions on German language materials is "Learn German." "Learn German" discusses the theme of Wohnung or dwelling. There are 6 videos with the theme of Wohnung or dwelling, ranging from level A1 to A2 in the German language proficiency scale. The research question of this study is to determine the suitability of YouTube animation videos from "Learn German," specifically the Wohnung theme, for use in listening skills in the 2013 curriculum for grade 11 in Senior High School or its equivalent. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach with note-taking and content analysis techniques. Based on the results of the analysis, it is stated that out of six videos, there are two videos entitled "Learn German Vocabulary - Mein Haus" with a score of 70.7% and "Learn German - Das Möbel" with a score of 69.2%.
