Abstract

Listening skills constitute a fundamental aspect of learning German, as they play an essential role in supporting speaking, reading, and writing skills. Instructional video materials such as Nicos Weg can support the development of these skills; however, their content must first be analyzed to ensure alignment with the Merdeka Curriculum. This study aimed to determine the level of content suitability of Nicos Weg A1 with the theme Essen und Trinken as teaching material for eleventh-grade listening skills in the second semester based on the Merdeka Curriculum. The research employed a qualitative approach using content analysis and literature review methods. The data sources consisted of dialogues from eight Nicos Weg videos available on the YouTube channel Deutsch lernen mit der DW, which were analyzed through observation and note-taking techniques and validated by an expert using a Likert scale. The findings indicated that Nicos Weg A1 with the theme Essen und Trinken achieved a suitability level of 92%, categorized as highly appropriate, and is therefore feasible to be used as supplementary teaching material for eleventh-grade listening skills.
